Beyond Brave Founder

Hi, I’m Sarah. I’m glad you are here!

My passion to help others live healthy and happy lives started as a child, growing up alongside a cousin close in age who was born with a childhood disability.  His adoring personality, courage, and bravery allowed him to face numerous physical, cognitive, and other challenges with grace, and served as an example to all around him for how to live life with meaning, living his best life everyday! His never ending positivity, giant smile, and willingness to take on some of life’s greatest challenges, fostered an inspiration in myself to want to live my own best life and help others to do the same. Today, I strive to invest the same energy and enthusiasm he brought to the world everyday.

I dove head first into a career in exercise and science working at a local fitness facility during high school. I surrounded myself with talented professionals including physical therapists, personal trainers, and exercise specialists. I listened, watched, learned, and grew my confidence level. I eventually worked directly with clients, teaching exercises and developing fitness routines. I fell in love with it. I would spend countless hours at the gym, growing my skills and asking questions to help drive my career path.

I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Northern Michigan University, studying fundamental principles of exercise and health sciences, including specific training in nutrition and sports nutrition. Simultaneously, I earned a Certificate in Massage Therapy to blend my understanding of anatomy and biomechanics into a functional practice to support my next career goal - becoming a physical therapist. Physical therapy was a natural fit. I loved exercise, had a passion for helping others, and grew up watching my cousin work with a physical therapist to maximize his movement potential. Gaining first hand experience through volunteer work at various physical therapy clinics, I affirmed that this was the career path for me. I worked as a massage therapist to support my dream of graduating from PT school and graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus.

I worked professionally in clinical practice affiliations such as the world renown Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago, IL and earned my specialty certification in a hands-in approach called neurodevelopmental technique. I had the pleasure of serving clients of all ages 0 - 100+ for more than 15 years prior to taking my love of wellness to yet another level with health coaching.

Empowering individuals to achieve optimal health has always been central to my approach when working with clients. As a Health Coach, I have the opportunity to integrate my passion for a holistic health model that encompasses balanced nutrition, a sustainable physical activity plan, effective stress management, healthy sleep habits, positive mental health, emotional and spiritual well-being. I founded Beyond Brave Health Coaching with the goal of helping clients not only survive, but thrive. With an endless pursuit to provide the highest quality service to my clients, I have attained certifications in functional nutrition and anticipate earning my board certification in health coaching through the NBC-HWC this year. My ultimate aspiration for each of my clients is to empower them to cultivate physical, mental, and emotional health, enabling them to live a life filled with joy, gratitude, and the confidence to pursue their fullest potential every day.

The Fun Stuff!

I embrace an active and outdoor lifestyle. When I’m not busy coaching you can likely find me wakesurfing, e-foiling, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, horseback riding, running, playing tennis, hiking, or dancing anywhere I can!

I am a people person and enjoy social activities with friends and family, but also love to cozy up with a great book or find new and exciting recipes.
